The Bangladesh Cetacean Diversity Project (BCDP) aims to conserve cetacean diversity and abundance in Bangladesh with local communities and institutions.
We seek to ensure the long-term protection of whale, dolphin and porpoise diversity in Bangladesh by building local capacity and developing effective science and community based conservation plans.
We believe that with a strong collaborative effort, Bangladesh can serve as a critical safety net for freshwater and coastal cetaceans whose populations are disappearing elsewhere in Asia.
The BCDP is a project of the Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS). WCS saves wildlife and wild places worldwide through science, global conservation, education and the management of the world's largest system of urban wildlife parks, led by the flagship Bronx Zoo. Together these activities change attitudes towards nature and help people imagine wildlife and humans living in harmony. WCS is committed to this mission because it is essential to the integrity of life on Earth. For more information please see www.wcs.org.
